Didn't kill anyone, didn't hurt anyone, didn't cause any property damage. Win.

Kinja'd!!!

It is my wife's cousin's "farm truck" and we borrowed it and the trailer to move with. The steering is unbelievably sloppy. As in, several times I would turn the wheel and nothing would happen. It wanders all over the road and requires constant correction. It's had 180,000 hard miles.

About as far away from driving my Mazda as you can get.

My father in law's Excursion has the same problem I call it "sail boat steering"

Does this share the front end with the similar vintage E-series vans? The one I drove wasn't too bad for a truck until a trailer was hooked up, at which point it became floaty and inconsistent. There was something seriously wrong with that design.

This one has a solid front axle, complete with leaf springs.

Ahh, guess not then. The E series one I'm thinking of was double wishbone.

I never realized how massive those front bumpers are.

We use a '22 Enclosed trailer to tow our race cars around... The catch is that our tow vehicle is a Porsche Cayenne S haha. Its no diesel pickup, but it (just about) gets the job done. The comparatively short wheelbase means it gets tossed around by Semis a bit, but there's enough grunt from the V8 to deal with a ~2000lb race car along with ~500lbs of equipment (gas, wheels, spare parts, etc.), plus trailer

This one needs so much work. It made me sad. Severe rust above both rear wheel wells, horrible steering (as I mentioned), and the transmission wasn't really that eager to shift gears. At all. It was, however, the first "farm truck" I've been in that had leather power seats.

Rust above wheels? Obviously your not from michigan as that truck would pass as a "clean" one here

Nope, I am from Kentucky and rust is like hit and miss here. A car has to be REALLY neglected to rust. As in, never washed ever. We just don't get that much snow.
